Google + Project

Google + started in June, 2011 opening up a small group of people to test it in it's infancy.  Since then there are now over 1 billion users.  It's still not open to the public, but if you know someone who has G+ (like myself) and you want to test it out, you will need an invite.  I have plenty of invites to send out...so if you want one, be sure to leave your "preferred" Gmail below in the comments section (if you don't have Gmail don't worry about it) and let me know you'd like one.

Some of you are wondering what the heck is Google +.  What better way for you to find out is through "10 Awesome Google + Presentations".  This page is loaded with different videos, slide presentations and explainations on what is G+ and how it works.  I definately recommend you view this page!
Though I will add my 2cents in here.  I LOVE G+.  So much in fact I cancelled my Facebook pages for a number of reasons.  The main reasons is because FB is constantly changing their settings (behind the scenes) whether it is privacy settings, default settings, account settings, etc without you or I knowing about the changes ahead of time.  When I went into any of my settings and change them the way I want them to be, I do that for a reason.  It really angered me that FB can just go in there and change them anytime they want and without my knowledge and change them.  The 2nd reason is because whenever you post status updates, click the "like" button, add a friend, pick your nose, sneeze, etc (laughing out loud) all of your friends can see what you posted.  There are some things I don't want the entire world to know about, and have learned I have to be very careful what I post.
I've also recently found out that employers are now looking up potential candidates FB pages to see what kind of person they are - looking at pictures, reading comments, etc and also looking to see how often/long you spend on your FB page.  If they see you are on there often, they won't hire you because they are afraid you will do that while on the clock.  FB in my opinion has caused more problems than what it's worth and I have washed my hands of it as of last week.  Actually I feel a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders because of it.  If you have the same thoughts/feelings I do about FB, you might want to consider deleting your profile(s) at some point.  But I DO recommend getting on G+ first and getting your friends on G+ before deleting FB.  That will be a slow process, as people are afraid of change.

For those of you who are on G+ already then you will find the following articles really interesting/handy.  For starters you can now customize your G+ profile url by going to http://gplus.to/
(For example: mine is http://gplus.to/JMar)  Feel free to add me to your circles.

This website has got to be one of the most awesome and useful G+ pages I've come across thus far.  All in one place you can search the G+ directory, find other G+ users, add yourself to the G+ directory, get Google widgets, learn more about G+ and hangouts and get Google apps.
If you're one of the early birds in the Google + directory, you can snag a Google + feed widget for your blog or website.  You can get all of this here: http://www.gglpls.com/ .

Looking to expand your Google + circles but don't know who to add?  The Unofficial Google +'s Recommended Users is a great place to start.  There are SO many people on there you could literally spend hours looking through everyone.  I'm waiting to find out if I'll be on the recommended authors & writers page as we speak.  Hopefully you'll see my face on there soon.  Crossing my fingers.

As I discover more interesting articles on G+ I will be posting them here.  If you still don't understand how G+ works after watching the videos and presentations above, let me know by posting your comments below and I'll answer them the best I can.

And don't forget.....if you need an invite for G+, be sure to leave a comment below!!!!!!!!

Stay tuned for more G+ updates.  Till then have a great day!
